Goring Unplugged exists to promote acoustic music of all types, played by people of all ages. We are aiming to provide a stress-free, happy place to play all types of music. It is a non-competitive non profit-making event. All money raised goes to pay for the hall rental or is plowed back into Goring Unplugged either for equipment or as food and drink to be consumed by the audience. None of the organisers are paid, and unfortunately there is no money for musicians’ expenses.

All people who wish to play music at Goring unplugged are treated equally. There are none with headline status, none who have a higher claim to play on any particular night, or time on that night. It is purely first come first served. You do not need to send us a demo CD or a Myspace link, you just have to want to play! The organisers will, however, try to arrange the running order to provide maximum variety.

The acts are booked in prior to the actual evening. Each act gets to play three songs or tunes. If your songs only average 30 seconds each, and you want to play more, let the compere (Jeanette) know when you arrive. If your songs are actually little symphonies and are likely to last more than 15 minutes in total, you may not get to do all three (We aim to finish the night by half eleven latest, as by then the audience are beginning to expire!)

We won’t book anyone in two months running - this ensures everyone gets a fair crack of the whip and that no-one gets to set up a residence(!)

Please remember, we are a TOTALLY unplugged, acoustic event. We have a piano, which is actually tuned occasionally, for those who wish to use a keyboard.

The audience is thoroughly trained to keep quiet when you are playing or singing(!) However, it is a fair sized hall, which sometimes has over 200 bodies in it to absorb sound, so it is as well to to try and project a bit.
If you have an instrument which is not loud enough to hear without amplification, it is most probably not a suitable instrument for this venue. If you have a band which cannot play without some of the instruments being amplified - it ain’t an acoustic band. Sorry!
It’s not fair on other performers who have asked for amplification and been turned down, if you turn up with an electric instrument.

If you have CDs to sell, we have a table in the Belleme Room (The room at the side of the Hall where you come in) that you can set up stall on. From our past experience the audience don’t respond well to the hard sell, but people they really like can shiftl a surprising number, so bring plenty.

You’re welcome to advertise other gigs and events you might be involved in, and if you want to leaflet the tables that’s fine.

This evening is for you, the musicians, so come along and use it!
